Lymphatic massage is important in helping the body heal after surgery. I have lost count on how many of these types of massages I have completed. I have had girls come to me that their doctor said they didn't need to get massages after their procedure or wait three months. By the time they come to me they are in lots of pain or have seroma and need to be drained. Some are beyond that and now have Fibrosis. Fibrosis is from the build up of adhesions , scars and sometimes protein under the skin that hardens . Lymphatic massage can help get them out but can be very painful! It is not necessary to get fibrosis if you start massage right way after surgery. Many doctors tell their patients to get massages and how many but unfortunately there are some doctors that say no and causes problems in most patients down the road of recovery. Lymphatic massage can reduce chances of infection, reduces pain and heals the body faster. Just make sure you research the therapist if you have a tummy tuck or any type of incision and make sure they are experienced in that type of massage.

7/1/2019 0 Comments THE ROTATOR CUFFIf you are a massage therapist out there and are looking for new techniques, check out Rebel Massage on YouTube. I have tried many of her techniques and they work! One of my favorite techniques I use often is the rotator stretch. It gives a nice gentle stretch and allows you to get to the teres major and minor in a different way. The body is supine (on back), gently pull arm towards you and stretch the scapula, Infraspinatous and even the supraspinatous. The link above is part one of the rotator cuff . She has three other videos on the rotator cuff. She explains the process very clearly where you shouldn't have any questions.

This article discusses lymphatic drainage massage, which helps clear the body of lymph fluid and increases blood flow, which will reduce swelling in the body. This article is very informative, but I would like to add that lymphatic massage is also beneficial to those who have had liposuction. It helps reduce swelling and can decrease scar tissue. It is highly recommended to have this type of massage within a week of having liposuction. (Always seek your doctor's approval before making this type appointment, of course.) I recently massaged a female client whose doctor recommended her to have a lymphatic drainage massage two days after her surgery. We followed up with three additional sessions, all within two weeks of her surgery. The results were fantastic! After the sessions, her swelling significantly reduced, and the reduction of bruising was very noticeable. This amazing massage speeds up the healing process. |
